The annual Christmas Eve service at Duke Chapel will be featured nationally on CBS on December 24th. Dean Luke Powery, the choirs and organists of Duke Chapel, a chamber orchestra, and a host of Duke students, faculty, staff, and friends will lead an hour-long program filled with readings, choral music and Christmas carols.
Devils en Pointe, Duke's student-run ballet company, celebrated the holiday season by performing excerpts from 'The Nutcracker' in Reynolds Industries Theater.
Mix 101.5 hosted the 25th annual two-day radiothon to raise funds and support on behalf of Duke Children's Hospital. Duke Men's Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski, a longtime hospital supporter, took photos with patients and urged radio listeners to contribute. Community members and Duke employees volunteered at the event, which ended up raising $604,606 for Duke Children's Hospital.
Duke's Jewish Student Union hosted a Hanukkah party at Devil's Krafthouse including seasonal favorites like dreidel games, latkes and jelly donuts.
Duke students took a break from preparing for exams to meet miniature horses in front of Lilly Library. Stampede of Love, a Triangle-based nonprofit, brought the therapy horses to campus to help students relax a bit before finals.
Members of Duke a cappella groups Out of the Blue and The Pitchforks performed holiday classics in Rubenstein Library’s Gothic Reading Room.
